The Atlanta Hawks are the local NBA franchise, and their season runs from November to April. The Hawks play in Philips arena, which was built downtown on the site of the old Omni, adjacent to CNN Center, and opened in September 1999. Tickets range from $10 for a nosebleed seat to $65 for something up close and personal. Call Ticketmaster or tel. 404/827-3865 for information.
On the college front, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets play in the highly competitive ACC. The season runs from mid-November to early March. Their home games are played in Alexander Memorial Coliseum, on the campus at Tenth and Fowler streets. Tickets are usually $18, but they are difficult to come by.
